Irina Okula creates ceramic pieces using several different styles and a variety of methods. While all her work is creative and imaginative, some results are purely aesthetic, while others are functional. Some use ancient techniques, while others employ innovative processes of Irina’s own invention. With the use of saggars, Irina makes unique designs that evoke thoughts of mountains and sand. Sometimes, she breaks the pots and puts them back together again. With porcelain, the artist pokes holes and exudes strings to stretch our imaginations to match hers.
